The Best Spots for Instagram-Worthy Moments in Phuket

Phuket is a bit of a treasure trove of a destination, especially when you’re looking for those Instagram worth moments. You can find culture, jungle, nightlight, dining and amazing beaches all on one island, which really sets it apart. Phuket offers so much that it doesn’t really matter whether it’s your first time to Thailand or you’ve been 10 times already you will always find new and interesting moments to capture through you lens. Here are some of my top spots to snap those sought after Instagram shots.

Karon

Start your journey at Karon Viewpoint, one of the most iconic spots in Phuket. Many moons ago when I first stood at the viewpoint, I was really captivated by the sweeping views of Kata and Karon beaches. The blues of the Andaman Sea contrasted with the lush greens of the surrounding hills create a perfect backdrop for pictures (and a great selfie). Going early in the morning or late afternoon allows you capture the magical hues of the sunrise or sunset, casting a golden glow over the landscape.

Big Buddha

Next on the list is the Big Buddha, a must-visit landmark that stands proudly on the Nakkerd Hills. Standing 45 meters tall, this statue offers a spiritual experience but also a panoramic view of the island. As you climb the steps to the Big Buddha, you can see the entire island stretching out below, providing ample opportunities for stunning shots. The key word here is serenity, and visiting this site can offer a tranquil escape from the bustling tourist spots. This addition to your travel itinerary enhances the experience of a stay at a resort Phuket Thailand.

Phuket Old Town

Strolling through Phuket Old Town is like taking a step back in time. The colorful Sino-Portuguese architecture, with its quaint shophouses and quaint cafes, is a photographer’s dream. Each building tells a story, and it’s easy to spend hours wandering these streets, capturing the vibrant hues and intricate details that define this historic area. Don’t miss the Sunday Walking Street Market if you’re there on the weekend, it’s a busy display of local life and culture.

Freedom Beach

Of course, no trip to Phuket is complete without a visit to its pristine beaches. While there are many to choose from, Freedom Beach is a hidden gem that offers a more secluded experience. Accessible only by boat or a challenging trek through the jungle, this beach rewards effort with its powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters. It’s an idyllic setting to capture the essence of tropical paradise without the crowds.

Elephant Sanctuaries

For a truly unique experience, head to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. This ethical sanctuary allows you to observe elephants in their natural habitat. As someone who deeply cares about animal welfare, I found this visit particularly rewarding. It’s a perfect place to capture candid photos of elephants enjoying their newfound freedom, a poignant reminder of the importance of conservation.

Promthep Cape

If you love sunsets, make your way to Promthep Cape. This is where Phuket’s sunsets are at their most dramatic, painting the sky with fiery hues as the sun dips into the ocean. If you sit there, camera in hand, you’ll be absorbed by the natural beauty surrounding you. It’s one of those moments where you put the camera down and simply soak in the view.
